Abstract

The article analyzes contemporary forms of territorial expropriation resulting from the energy transition, especially those related to free trade corridors and green grabbing in the context of Latin America. Our argument is that green grabbing is a contemporary form of land grabbing in regions of strategic interest to capital. The data presented comes from primary sources, such as memorandums for mineral exploration, for the installation of wind and photovoltaic power plants and for green hydrogen. We also analyzed platforms that provide quantitative data on socio-environmental conflicts in the vast majority of Latin American countries affected by these projects. The theoretical-analytical framework incorporates agrarian studies from agrarian geography and territorial sociology.
