Review of the book “Projeto “We propose! Goiás: construction of geographical THINKING and citizen action”

Abstract

The text is a review of the book "Projeto Nós Propomos! Goiás: construction of geographical thinking and citizen action." written in 2022 under the organization of the authors Karla Annyelly Teixeira de Oliveira, Lana de Souza Cavalcanti and Loçandra Borges de Moraes. The material contemplates the experiences of the "We Propose!" project in the state of Goiás between the years 2019 and 2021. The project itself began in Portugal and was implemented in this unit of the federation intending to (re)build geographic thinking with emphasis on citizen and critical action, in other words, offering the main agents of the project (teachers and school students) autonomy in the process of identifying problems that afflicted them, but also, and mainly, in the elaboration of possible solutions. The project was applied in different municipalities, revealing multiple problems. The book presents in detail the process followed, from the delimitation of the theoretical and methodological bases, but also the results obtained in each of the experiences. From them it was possible to attest how some practices that transcend the classroom, such as field classes, bring the concepts of Geography closer to the reality of these students.
