THE LITERATURE IN FOREIGN LANGUAGE IN TEXTBOOK AND THE YOUTH READER

This paper presents results of a qualitative, interpretive and bibliographic- documental research. The survey works with the cultural-historical theoretical-methodological perspective. It aimed to understand the high school students in relation to the presence of literary texts of foreign origin in his Portuguese textbook. The central question is about students’s opinions and practices concern to foreign literary texts on the high school textbook. More particularly, we aimed to identify the students’s perception about the presence of foreign literature in the textbook, and their possible influence on habits, opinions, such as the desire to learn another language, culture or custom. For this, we applied a questionnaire to all high school series of three public schools in different cities of the Grande Vitória (ES, Brazil). The results shows the unavailability and lack of interest by the students in research foreign literature out of school.
