Abstract

This is text based an oral presentation roundtable titled "Children and youth, literary readers" during the International Congress of Child and Youth Reading: celebrating reading, in its fourth edition (2015), the result of 20 years the CELLIJ - Unesp - Presidente Prudente. In it are discussed issues related to literary education in Childhood and constitution of the reader status through an appropriate mediated access to the book, articulated the regularities of child development. The debate thematizes the combination of the words chosen to express the title: literature, ability to read a book and child.
