Abstract

The purpose of this study was to discuss theoretical basis, conceptions and misunderstandings that sometimes are related to the expressions Pre-school Education and Early Childhood Education. The discussion involved an analysis about Pre-school Education and Early Childhood Education curricular development theory and pretended to show the specifity of both concepts and why the misunderstandings occur. This discussion was based on research about Portuguese reality, historical evolution and the implications on present (CARDONA, 2005; 2010).
