Abstract

This article aims to analyze and discuss the Marielle Vive (MV) MST Camp, in Valinhos, São Paulo, where about 400 families live and fight for agrarian reform since 2018. Valinhos is a town located in the greater metropolitan region of the city of Campinas (RMG). The MV territory is conceived through the struggle for land against real estate capital, represented by Fazenda Eldorado Empreendimentos Imobiliários, which is a plantation that was classified as improductive, making it subject to expropriation and settlement as an agrarian reform project. From the example of this  territorial dispute, the article examines the contemporary struggle for land in metropolitan contexts, based on the MST experience of Comuna da Terra and Popular Agrarian Reform. The research included the use of qualitative methodologies as well as participant-observer data collection.
