O PATRIMÔNIO ARQUITETÔNICO E URBANÍSTICO DE PRESIDENTE PRUDENTE: O POSSÍVEL PRESERVADO

Resumo

 O trabalho trata do processo de preservação do patrimônio arquitetônico e Urbanístico de Presidente Prudente, SP. Faz um resgate das atuações das instuições civis públicas e da participação dos autores no esforço para salvaguarda dos registros materiais históricos e culturais de Presidente Prudente. Subsidiado na pouca documentação existente, na memória oral e no relato de vivências, mesmo com lacunas e dúvidas, acumula informações para contribuir no debate dessa temática. A cidade apresenta um histórico de descaso em relação ao seu patrimônio cultural, especialmente o seu patrimônio material edificado. Os atores políticos e as instituições questionam o valor histórico e cultural de seu patrimônio histórico. A história da cidade é esquecida numa atitude de negar o passado em nome de um falso “progresso” ficando sujeita ao interesse do capital imobiliário. A atuação das instituições de preservação do patrimônio cultural é intermitente, dependem dos interesses relacionados aos poder político local. Apenas três bens patrimoniais são tombados, o Museu e Arquivo Histórico, o Centro Cultural Matarazzo e o Bebedouro de Animais. Essa investigação verifica possíveis diretrizes de políticas públicas que busquem encaminhamentos de ações para garantir a salvaguarda e a preservação dos diversos momentos da paisagem cultural da cidade.

Abstract

 This paper discusses the process of preserving the architectural heritage and Townscape of Presidente Prudente, SP. It recounts the actions of public civil institutions and the participation of the authors in the effort to safeguard the records of historical and cultural materials from Presidente Prudente. Subsidized in little existent documentation, in oral memory and in reporting of experiences, even with gaps and questions, collects information to contribute to the discussion of this theme. The city has a history of neglect in relation to its cultural heritage, particularly its material heritage buildings. Political actors and institutions question the value of their historical and cultural heritage. The city's history is forgotten in an attitude of denying the past in the name of a false "progress" being subject to the interest of real estate capital. The performance of the institutions of cultural heritage preservation is intermittent, depend on the interests related to local political power. Only three capital assets are tumbled, the Museum and Historical Archive, Cultural Centre Matarazzo and Animal Trough. This research finds possible guidelines for public policies that seek referrals of actions to ensure the safeguarding and preservation of the various moments of the cultural landscape of the city.
