Abstract

The present article analyzes the relationship between women's work and the production of space based on the current Brazilian reality. The objective is to demonstrate how women's work fits into the unequal and hierarchical structure of the social metabolism of capital (MÉSZÁROS, 2011), which ultimately determines the general forms of production and reproduction of space, as articulated by Lefebvre (2006). References from Safiotti (1973) and Schols (1992) contribute to the analysis of the most recent official data (IBGE, 2022; IPEA, 2022) and other scientific/academic publications that illustrate the subsumed condition of women's work and women in Brazil. This methodological approach, which relates practical reality and theoretical reflection, allows to consider space as the objective manifestation of the unequal structure of labor that places women in its productive process in a subordinate manner, through the normalization and standardization of the patriarchal nature of social reproduction.
